Trip to DIRTT factory in Savannah

Last month the C.E. sales, design and management teams took a trip to the new 81,000 sq. ft. DIRTT assembly plant in Savannah, GA. Throughout the 2 day event our teams learned about every detail that goes into manufacturing the innovative DIRTT modular interiors.

DIRTT 'Doing It Right This Time', refers to creating responsive, sustainable and unique workspaces through DIRTT's Agile Architectural Solutions. Movable walls and access floors allow for complete self-expression and individual function providing a productive, long-term, flexible asset. DIRTT Walls are pre-engineered, pre-manufactured and horizontally support new and legacy furniture and storage. They virtually eliminate construction waste and any future renovation waste - no demolition, dumping, procuring and re-building. The results are dramatic and meaningful for the environment and your bottom-line.

We also used the opportunity to do team building workshops that strengthened the already tight bond between the design, management and sales forces, part of our ongoing efforts to ensure our company retains its position as one of the top furniture dealers in the Southeast.

Corporate Environments and Knoll sponsor local MODA Exhibit

In cooperation with Knoll, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) presents “The Furniture of Eero Saarinen: Designs for Everyday Living,” the first exhibition to examine the complete range of furniture designs of Eero Saarinen.

Saarinen (1910-1961) became widely renowned as America’s foremost architect of the 1950s. He gained his earliest international prominence with his prize-winning furniture designs in collaboration with Charles Eames for the 1941 Museum of Modern Art Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition.

Knoll Associates began developing and producing Eero Saarinen’s furniture designs soon after the company’s formation in 1946. Saarinen’s cooperation with his life-long friend Florence Knoll resulted in his most noted designs – the Grasshopper Chair, the Womb Chair and derivative 70-Series seating, and the iconic Pedestal Series of tables and chairs.

“Designs for Everyday Living” presents examples of Saarinen’s early furniture designs, sketches, photographs, and descriptions of each of Saarinen’s furniture designs and collections. Knoll has provided archival examples and pieces of Saarinen’s timeless designs from current production.

MODA worked closely with Knoll in planning this exhibition, with Brian Lutz providing additional assistance. Lutz wrote “Form and Innovation,” an essay on Eero Saarinen’s furniture that is included in “Shaping the Future,” the catalog of the current traveling exhibition celebrating the centennial of Eero Saarinen’s birth.

Holiday's at Corporate Environments

T’was the week before Christmas when all through the land
Holiday Breakfast and Lunches were planned

The Breakfast on Tuesday was super,
so yummy, and swell
There were high hopes for lunch,
the next day would tell

What to our wondering eyes will appear?
Ham, turkey, salads, veggies, dessert and good cheer

"No, Dasher! no, Dancer! no, Prancer or Vixen!
No Comet! no Cupid! no, Donder or Blitzen!

Just friends at CE, the merriest band,
Will join in the fun, each woman and man

The Library’s ready and calling to all
Noon’s the time, for the jolliest Lunchtime of all.

The "Atlanta Beltline" event, which turned unused articles, materials and content into art, underlines the Knoll commitment to thoughtful material reuse and underscores the Knoll dedication to sustainable design.

"Beltline" began as a thesis project by a Georgia Tech Student several years ago and has since become a grass roots effort embraced not only by the city but also by several philanthropic organizations.
