Corporate Environments Supports Efforts to Feed the Hungry by Getting Involved in “Canstruction”
The annual CANSTRUCTION competition brings together architects, designers, engineers, and others to help in feeding the hungry. A joint venture with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Society for Design Administrators (SDA), Kroger, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank, CANSTRUCTION allows participants to showcase their creativity by constructing sculptures out of cans of food and other food item containers.  After the exhibits are constructed, judged, and displayed, participants donate all “construction materials” to the Atlanta Community Food Bank for distribution to those in need.

In the November 2006 competition, Corporate Environments proudly served as a contributing partner in design/build efforts with Warner Summers Ditzel Benefield Ward & Associates. Our canstruction team designed and built a drive-in movie theater showing the feature “Drive Out Hunger”.  The concept was fun, energetic, and portrayed a bold message.  The goal was to captivate the audience so that they would continually move their eyes throughout the structure and become actively involved.  Most importantly, the build required a larger quantity and variety of cans and dry goods, thereby maximizing the amount of food contributed.

We are happy to announce that our design team was rewarded for all their hard work with an “Honorable Mention”!  Congratulations to all who participated!
